Up, up and away!

Day 10 - Monday, April 7, 2008

Oakhurst certainly welcomed us in a spectacular way!
Our day started with an Airplane Ride over the area we would be spending our time in. We started at Fresno Airport with Marc Sobel and his fabulous plane. He took Glen and Will up first, with Glen sitting in the co-pilot's seat. Once we had cleared the City, Glen took over the controls (at least the city folk were safe).

Marc showed us around Fresno, Oakhurst and Bass Lake. Spectacular Views! Next up were Michelle (co-pilot) & I (Sarah) then Westy (co-pilot) and Victor. A big thank you to Marc for letting us up in the plane and for trusting the "mature" ones to be co-pilots.

After the excitement of flight it was time to eat! We were shown the best place to eat in town, The Dog House. It's opposite Fresno College and is a hangout for the college kids, and more recently the Tassie GSE Team. Very sport orientated with memorabilia and TV screens all around.

A Uni Student's Lunch

I nominated Michelle to enter the Search for Miss 1430 (a beauty competition for a local sports radio station). She'll need to be driven back for the comp night at the end of the month but I'm sure she'll be a favourite with such a cute accent!

After feeding our faces with delicious burgers, we headed to the mall for shopping. Will was looking in all the female clothes stores, I'm not sure if that was because he wanted to buy something for his lady at home, or if it was because the young sales assistants were modelling some of the fashions of the day (extremely short shorts). The Mall was very much the same as at home, just some different stores. After Westy and Glen had purchased their matching Nike Air shoes for $48 per pair, and I got a "Duff Beer" (energy drink) we all headed to Best Buys, an electrical store so that Glen could get a American Phone Card...but also so I could get my Guitar Hero fix!

We headed back to Oakhurst and spent the evening with our family, and preparing for our first breakfast meeting at 6:45am the following day. An early(ish) night was required!

Will's note: I started this one, but Sarah did all the work! I'll change it to make her the author when I have fast internet again! :-(
